Evolution Town Planning were instructed to ‘re-scope’ an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report which has been submitted to support a planning application for the use of around 1 million square feet of commercial uses on a former airfield. The proposal was to include the use of the redundant runway for aircraft flights as part of the on going planning application.

The site was in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the planning application was a major source of public concern.

Evolution Town Planning managed the process of amending the submitted EIA in order to account for the changes to the planning application and were successful in demonstrating that the significant addition of the flying use of the runway would not alter the previous positive conclusions of the EIA.

This was accepted by consultees and the local planning authority and planning permission was subsequently granted to include the ‘re-activation’ of a redundant runway in an AONB.
