The Old Farmstead, London Road, Beccles

We are pleased to have helped Suffolk house builder Beauly Homes gain planning permission for six new homes at Ivy Farmhouse, London Road, Beccles, replacing the former farmhouse which has stood empty for a number of years.

The Old Farmstead takes its cue from the traditional farmsteads of Suffolk, with the homes arranged around a central courtyard. The architecture draws on the traditional Suffolk vernacular with bay windows, porches, chimneys and varied roof heights giving the development a distinct sense of character.

The former filling station and garage presented challenges because of contamination and highways issues. The six homes comprise three two-bedroom terraced houses, one three-bedroom detached house and two four-bedroom detached houses. The scheme also includes a new vehicular access, landscaping and a pedestrian and cycle link along London Road helping to connect an existing gap in local walking and cycling routes.
