Sensitive Re-Development of Former Farm Yard

Evolution Town Planning has supported a local farmer in Mid Suffolk to secure planning permission for the demolition of a collection of outdated agricultural buildings and their replacement with four high‑quality new-build homes designed in a traditional barn style next to a historic listed farmhouse. The first two homes are now nearing completion, with internal works being finalised ahead of new residents moving in.

The project required early engagement with the Local Planning Authority and made strategic use of permitted development rights to establish residential use in a rural location that would typically be considered unsuitable for new housing, particularly given its sensitive historic context. Working closely with Architects and Heritage Specialists, we developed an enhanced scheme that improves the setting of the listed farmhouse and delivers four bespoke homes that complement and enhance the rural character of the area.
