New Commercial Building Granted Permission
January 14, 2026
Evolution Town Planning has successfully obtained planning permission for a new commercial building to meet the needs of an existing local business tenant at a rural business park in Norfolk.
The successful local business had outgrown their existing premises in the park and required larger, more modern facilities to support the business moving forward. If a suitable building could not be provided, the business would have to consider relocating elsewhere which would be of detriment to the overall local rural economy.
Our Client, the owner and operator of the business park and farming enterprise, contacted us for help to support the tenant who had been operating from the park for over ten years. Our Client was keen to retain the long term tenant and to provide them with a building which met their expanding needs.
Local Planning Policy seeks to locate new commercial development within larger villages or towns, or within specific employment allocation areas, which this site did not comply with. In addition, the County Council Highways department seek to avoid development which intensifies use onto roads which are classified as a Corridor of Movement, as was the case with this site.
Evolution Town Planning was able to put forward a strong argument that the economic and employment benefits of providing the necessary facilities for a local company outweighed the policy conflicts, and worked with the County Council Highway Officer to assuage concerns regarding the impact of the proposal on the road network.
The Local Planning Authority approved the development and the first stages of the project are underway. The permission has been well received by our client, the business tenant, and local community.
