Development of 37 New Homes in Suffolk
November 12, 2024
We are pleased to be working with Burgess Homes to complete a housing development for 37 homes in Hopton, Suffolk. Our involvement with the site goes back to the preparation of the 2014 St Edmundsbury Borough Council Local Plan.
We successfully lobbied for the site to be allocated in the Local Plan for 37 homes which was an increase from the original scheme of 20 proposed by the Council.
The increased allocation included open space and a less dense development more appropriate for the edge of the village location, with a wider range of house types including several bungalows.
Local Planning Policy required a Masterplan to be prepared in consultation with local people which we drafted and consulted upon, and which was subsequently adopted. This was followed by the preparation and approval of a full planning application.
The application was welcomed when it went to Planning Committee because of its quality. When the Landowner was ready to sell the site, we began to help Burgess Homes with variations to the proposals to suit their preferred home designs and the discharge of conditions.
Overall, the housing development has been well received indicating that housing supports local communities and sustains local facilities.
