In The Face of Adversity!

We are very pleased to have obtained planning permission for a new house in the historic centre of Beverley. The site is within a Conservation Area and next to listed buildings. It has a controversial planning history with no proposal for the site gaining support from local people, or Local Amenity Societies. No proposal united the views of Planning and Conservation officers.
Our client was a local housebuilder who needed to deliver a viable scheme whilst developing an attractive home on the site. Our client applied good local knowledge to the design. We sought to get local people onside with a considerate design, and communicated with elected members to ensure that they understood the scheme.
The application was presented to Planning Committee with an Officer’s recommendation for refusal. Gaining the support of the Conservation Officer, Town Council, Local Amenity Society and ensuring there were no neighbour objections meant that the planning committee was happy to overturn the recommendation for refusal and approve the application. This saves the time and expense of an appeal and ensures that this important site will be redeveloped quickly.
