Many farms have diversified into providing venues for weddings. We are pleased to have been advising the owners of the Grade 2* Tannington Hall in Suffolk on their wedding venue since 2016. The venue is in the lovely grounds of the Listed Hall and is proving popular now Coronavirus restrictions have been lifted. In 2016 we obtained consent for a range of buildings to be used for wedding receptions. This year we have gained consent for a historic building that was constructed for exercising horses to be a venue for marriage ceremonies. The building is a circular brick and timber structure that has fallen into disrepair. The circular shape of the building will create a wonderful venue for marriage ceremonies allowing the happy couple to be surrounded by their guests. The architect designed an attractive zinc roof with a roof light in the centre to provide natural light into the centre of the building.

We have been involved in a few applications for wedding venues. They can sometime prove controversial due to fears over noise and disturbance. We work with good noise consultants who are experts in the field. Good supporting information and realistic controls usually means that fears over noise and disturbance can be overcome.

At Tannington we have addressed issues of noise as well as heritage impact to the nearby Grade 2 * Listed Hall which ensured a smooth outcome to the application.
