Barn Conversions Old and New
September 27, 2019
We have long experience of achieving the conversions of barns to residential use. This month we have achieved the conversion of a complex of barns in the village of Lound in Suffolk to residential use. The barns are a large range of lovely red brick and pantile buildings. Permission has been achieved to convert the barns into five small homes. The costs of conversion of barns can now make creating large homes with barns uneconomic. Creating several small homes can be difficult in historic buildings as it means more alterations are required to the buildings and more changes are required around the buildings such as the introduction of parking and other domestic areas. We are pleased that a viable scheme of five small homes has been achieved in these traditional buildings with the support of the planning authority for the principal and detail of the scheme.
Modern barns such as the one pictured also make good quality homes and we are pleased to have achieved this high quality conversion in Mid Suffolk. The permission allows the client to create a high quality home with a large range of outbuildings and garden areas.
