Planning permission was granted by Breckland District Council for 75,000 square feet of A1 retail and 1,800 square feet of restaurant/takeaway on a commercial site outside the town centre.

The site has been unused since 2009 and was subject to a failed attempt in 2013 to gain planning permission for a supermarket.

Achieving planning consent required a careful assessment of the retail impact on the town centre, delivery of a new vehicular access on to the London Road, removing TPO trees to create the vehicular access and developing retail on an employment site.

Discussion with the Town Council and Breckland Councillors and Planners ensured widespread support for the scheme which will bring B&M, Costa Coffee and other retailers to the town.
