We have obtained planning consent for 10 homes, comprising nine new build homes and one conversion in the village of Somerleyton in Suffolk. Known as The Old Forge, the location is a sensitive context and the approach retains a mature Oak Tree placing the nine homes around a shared yard reflecting the informal agricultural clusters in the vicinity. The tenth home is found in the Old Forge itself. The site is in a Conservation Area and the scheme required a careful analysis of the Conservation Area setting. Another key issue was a careful analysis of contamination because of the site’s former use as a petrol filling station.
