Wetheringsett Success
May 31, 2023
We are pleased to have gained planning consent for 14 homes via a planning appeal in Mid Suffolk District. The site is in the village of Wetheringsett. The client approached us after the application was refused. The main issues were whether the development would maintain or enhance the rural community; whether it would generate unsustainable traffic movements; and whether the development would support local services. We have significant experience in these types of applications and with dealing with such issues.
The Planning Inspector accepted our arguments on the sustainability of the village and the detailed analysis we presented about the benefit of what the homes would bring to the local area, including the school and other facilities. A S.106 agreement was prepared to deliver 4 affordable homes which gave weight to the proposal. We work with a number of good solicitors who are experienced in this area. Other issues addressed included the impact on two nearby listed buildings.
This is a good result at a time when rural housing developments are becoming harder to achieve in Mid Suffolk because of the significant supply of housing consents in the pipeline.
