Fritton Lake Resort

We have advised the Fritton Lake resort which is part of the Somerleyton Estate near Lowerstoft for several years. The resort is made up of high quality cabins set in beautiful historic parkland around the large Fritton Lake. There is a wonderful pub in a grade 2* listed building, a walled garden, outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and sauna.
We recently gained consent for an attractive new bar and restaurant area. This is within the setting of the listed pub next to the pool. Two pavilions will be created with flat green roofs to allow views from higher ground over the buildings to the lake. A new gravel garden will lead to the pool area creating a stylish area for visitors. Developing a modern building of this type near to a grade 2* listed building presented challenges however careful pre-application discussions resulted in a consensus among officers to support the application.
